There is no denying that winter is here. With subzero temperatures, snow and ice it’s no time to find yourself unprepared in an emergency situation. We have compiled a list of must have items to ensure safety through the winter months, as we dream of warmer weather.
For the Car:

Extra hat, coat, gloves and a blanket to stay warm

Good pair of snow boots. If not your every day wear, be sure to have a good warm boot that you can walk in through snow and ice

Water and snacks

First aid kit

Flashlight

Windshield scraper

Shovel to dig out of snow, if car gets stuck

Sand, kitty litter, or road salt to help with tire traction if stuck

Tire chains

Spare tire or fix a flat

Hazard reflectors or flares
For the Home

Week’s worth of nonperishable foods

Bottled water (1 gallon/person for a 5 day period is recommended)

Full/extra pet food

Full/extra supply of any necessary medications

Generator

Extra blankets, warm clothing or alternative heating source in case of power outage
