It’s been a long time since I’ve been to the Rockford fair, probably at least five years or more, but it was if I’d never left.I still ran into the same friends I always run into, this time we’re all a bit older – some have kids and most of us, like myself, have settled into a comfortable state in our careers and are looking forward to the next chapter in our lives. For those of you who have never been to the Rockford Fair, or those who say “Where’s Rockford“, you have to attend next year. The fair is a slow paced, close-knit community gathering with live entertainment, Fresh Emtman Beef Burgers, Harvest Hoops, and Entertaining rides by Davis Shows. The day starts off with a parade Saturday Morning full of local community floats, and flying candy. As a kid I remember getting there early to get a good candy grabbing spot. For adults there are two great Taverns “Fred Necks” and “The Harvest Moon” with great local food creations and cold beer. For those looking to sit back and take it all in, several quiet park benches or a chair under the awning in the bingo booth will suit you well. The wife and I had a great time, even taking our chances and hopping on the spinning swing ride among four and five year olds, it was great fun. If you’d like more information about Rockford, or have pictures from the fair you’d like to share – please send them to me!
